Yeah, I did just say that...

So, we all have those body parts that we are self conscious about. Some people don’t like their hands, others don’t like their teeth some don’t like their noses…for me well…I’m not particularly fond of the fact that my butt and hips are on the bigger than average side. It’s kind of one of those things that I’m a little more self conscious about than others. Like I hate that buying pants that fit my butt and hips means I HAVE to wear a belt since they will be too big in the waist. I also hate that I actually tend to knock people and things over when I don’t mean to. (Ask my little sister who I about knocked to the floor when she was 9 months pregnant, it can be very dangerous people!)

Then there’s that whole, well how do I put this, there’s this whole thing about whether or not my butt is actually gonna be a deal breaker when it comes to guys. Being a girl that prefers vanilla to chocolate, (I can’t help it! That’s how God made me! Not that there aren’t some fine brothas out there, because there are…) but it’s been my personal experience that most guys I find attractive aren’t the guys who like girls with a little extra. Sigh. It’s a horrible conundrum!

Anyhow, when I feel down I just turn to some of my favorite rappers who always like to remind me that it’s a good thing to be a girl with some junk in the trunk. It’s ok that they are all black, that really doesn’t bother me because you know me if the right man came along and he was a chocolate covered brotha that’d be alright with me.

Sir Mix-A-Lot, “Baby Got Back”

I mean the title says it all really and the song just further elaborates on this notion of the girl with the perfect BIG butt. “I'm tired of magazines / Sayin' flat butts are the thing / Take the average black man and ask him that / She gotta pack much back.” I’m tired of magazines too Sir Mix-A-Lot.

And then of course, “You can do side bends or sit-ups, / But please don't lose that butt.” Umm…trust me even when I was like working out all the time…it didn’t go anywhere I don’t think I could lose it if I wanted too!

Kanye West featuring T-Pain, Good Life

Kanye makes a couple references in this song, “And she got the goods / And she got that ass, I got to look, sorry.” It’s ok Kanye, just don’t stare.

And then of course, “Where we like the girls who ain't on TV / Cause they got more (Ass than the models)” I mean what more is there to add to that?

Ludacris, Pimpin’ All Over the World

I know a lot of you know my favorite reference comes from this song, and it makes me smile every time I hear it. “Hey I'm really diggin ya lips, but be careful where you walkin when you swingin them hips, I'm kinda Concerned that you'll be causin a crash wit ya traffc jam booty, heads pausin so fast.” I say it all the time and I mean it, I want a traffic jam booty!

I think that’s enough examples for now, and this whole blog was done mostly in fun…but you know what they say every time you joke about something there’s a little bit of truth in it and truth is…it’s a little bit of an insecurity of mine but somehow I just have to learn to live with it because it’s going NOWHERE! :)

Yes Melanie, you are blogworthy.

I talked to my friend Melanie this morning, it went a little something like this.

Jetta, Melanie says:
i love your - beards; love em or hate em blog
Jetta, Melanie says:
i dont think i hate - but i definitely dont love

Melanie Jetta, the first "kinda" beard girl I've ever known. To be honest most guys are all about the beards and it's just the girls that are either absolutely yes or heck no beard people. But Melanie just proved...she's not like most girls, which I already knew!

MJ, you're the best!

(Oh man...we have some pretty teeth us two!)

What's wrong with me...

I'm not sleepy.

And even though I've posted what feels like too many blogs today I still feel like I have so much more to say. My heart is heavy and I've had so many amazing conversations that I'm sure there will be more to come very soon...probably tomorrow.

I'm parched. Oooh...I just looked around to discover there's water on my nightstand. Thank goodness because I would have never walked all the way to the kitchen.

Updated my iPod which means I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow. I did however get extremely irritated hunting for an old piece of plastic referred to as a CD that I just know I have somewhere but can't stinking find! Oh well...since it's all your fault because I heard it in your truck tonight, Corre I need NOFX from you. Thanks. :)

Goodnight folks.

Gratuitous photo blog...weekend fun!

First, Friday night with some amazing people. I laughed, I cried (literally...crybaby girl,) and it was all good.

Sarah was not a fan of our server. He stuck his finger in his ear and had a beard that she was NOT happy about. She even cancelled her soup. For some reason the girl does NOT like beards...I don't get it. (However our server did look pretty much like a homeless guy and I do completely understand why she didn't want her soup.) It was extremely funny to listen to her complain about him though.

Katy makes me smile. I'm glad she's here for a little while. It's nice to talk to her face to face instead of face to sidekick.

Oh Tony...There's so much I could say but I'll stick to this...I'm glad we know each other better now. Come to find out after all this time that you're a pretty awesome dude!

And then there's Joseph. I'm pretty sure of two things he can pull off a fedora and he's a pretty cool guy. Oh, and of course he earns extra points for the awesome beard.

**RANDOM SIDE NOTE: I've had so many crazy beard conversations lately. So many people either LOVE or HATE them, it seems no one just has "kinda" feelings for beards. I, of course, think they are fantastic! Comes from growing up with a daddy that has one. Man of my dreams, when you find me you must be able to grow an amazing beard. END RANDOM SIDE NOTE.**

And just for Katy, her favorite photo of the night.

Then there was Saturday night where I got to see Mark and Jessica F. which was really nice and then spent way too much time at Victoria Gardens. But I was with two of my favorites and made the amazing Hot Dog on a Stick discovery in a previous post so it turned out all right.

And then there was Sunday. I had a really nice time at Fridays with some people I really miss spending time with. And earlier, I got to see my precious niece. She's changed a lot in a week already. She's so cute and tiny and I can't wait for her gross umbilical cord thingy to fall off. But I got to feed her and she napped the afternoon away in my lap while I watched Just Friends. She's so tiny...

Old friends made new.

Many people will come into your life for just a season..and then...if you're lucky they might just come back again. I've been blessed with old friends made new.

This guy and his wifey...won't ever understand how amazing they are because they are so awesome that they would never actually think they are anything special. And that's part of their magic.

Then this guy...puts up with all my annoying texts and emails and then still offers me awesome advice which lets me know he listens. He's good people.

Truth is I met these guys when I was young and stupid, (actually I'm pretty sure I met Trev in high school but that's a whole 'nother story.) They knew me in what I consider to be one of the crappiest times in my life and then I ran into them again probably a couple years ago, but these past couple months I've been lucky enough to spend a fair amount of time with them and God has showed me that sometimes people are your friends for more than one season...those seasons might just happen to be years apart.

Analee

Well, for those of you who don't know my sister had her baby on Friday. She's pretty cute...even for a newborn. So either God blessed Liana with a cute kid or I'm softening up on the whole "newborns are ugly" thing. (It's probably a little of both!) Analee was 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 19" long. I guess I've been a bad Auntie because I keep getting asked to post pictures of the little one. So, by popular demand...here they are.

Mommy and baby right after she was all cleaned up.

Great Auntie Janet and Tyler made the trip down to see her right after she was born.

Umbilical Cord!

Mommy, Daddy and Baby

My grandma has decided that she does not want to be called great grandma or granny so she will be grandma grandma! We'll see how long that lasts!

Baby Analee at home with her pretty blue eyes. We're hoping her eyes stay blue like Liana's.

Phil Wickham

Phil Wickham is really amazing. If you are looking for some great worship I highly recommend him. I haven't had a chance to get his new album yet but I love his first one. His lyrics are great. I've been listening to him a lot, he gives me a sense of peace. Here are some of my favorite lyrics.

From the song Grace:
I need eyes to be my guide
I need a voice that’s louder than mine
I need hope I need You
Cause I can’t do this alone

I like this set of lyrics because it's so true. We NEED Jesus and grace, we literally can't do it alone, but at the same time we don't have to do it alone. Jesus promised we would never be alone again.

Next...Mystery. I just think that so much of God is a mystery to us. I'm not even sure that our human minds can really truly understand so many of God's truths but I do know that one of the greatest mysterys of all, for me anyhow, is his neverending love for His people.
Here in the Quiet speak to me now
I want to hear the thunder of who You are
To be captured inside the wonder of who You are
I want to live I want to breathe
To search out Your heart and all of Your mysteries

You were the first and You’ll be the end
Time cannot hold You down
Why save a wretch like me?
No eye has seen, no ear has heard
No heart could fully know
All of Your mystery

I Will Wait for You There
I will wait for You there
Down On my knees where I met you
Cause life is a war fought with tears
But You are the strength I hold onto now
I’m calling for you

Finally, Divine Romance.
The fullness of Your grace is here with me
The richness of Your beauty’s all I see
The brightness of Your glory has arrived
In Your presence God, I’m completely satisfied

Divine Romance really hits me every time. I was actually surprised to hear it played as part of Sunday morning worship at Reality L.A. Surprised in a good way, but I had forgotten how powerful it is. I mean to realize that we really have a chance to "rejoice in this divine romance" is almost unfathomable. God gives us an opportunity to have this wonderful divine romance with him...he longs to have that with us. How much more could you really ask for?

Eco Friendly and Vegan Friendly

Hey Ladies! Go vote for your favorite coat designs on Vaute Couture's website and you will have a part in their experiment to create a vegan, eco concious coat!

The designs are awesome and they will be taking special orders for the three coats that win and selling them in November. They are super chic and as an added bonus they are vegan and eco friendly. Not to influence your votes but I chose the following three...

Vaute Coat

El Coat

Awe Coat

Places to go.

I took a quiz on Find Your Spot that tells you the most desireable places to live based on the answers to your questions. Of the 24 listed more than half are from Oregon, Washington and Tennessee. Three places I really like. And there was only one that was a no go. None of them are in California which reaffirms what I already knew...I'm destined to probably leave this great state and go to one that will better suit me. Here's the list. (I know that I previously posted another blog with a similar topic but it wasn't quite the same.)

Eugene, OR
Corvallis, OR
Olympia, WA
Tacoma, WA
Knoxville, TN
Fayetteville, AR
Salem, OR
Portland, OR
Kent, WA
Seattle, WA
Little Rock, AR
Albuquerque, NM
Greenville, SC
Johnson City – Kingsport, TN
Medford, OR
Bellingham, WA
Anchorage, AL (is Alaska AL? or is that Alabama?)
Fort Collins, CO
Chattanooga, TN
Clarksville, TN
Provo-Orem, UT (NO, NO, NO!)
Missoula, MT
Tulsa, OK
Denver, CO

Ha! You can take the girl outta the Ghetto but you can't take the Ghetto outta the girl!

Oh man...I think I might puke.

I was reading an article about how not to get sick because I HATE the thought of germs and this is what one part of the article said.

"If you had X-ray vision," says Dr. William Schaffner, professor and chair of the Vanderbilt Department of Preventive Medicine and vice president of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, "you would see a cloud of viruses around them. Every time they exhale, respiratory viruses come out, extending about three feet, creating a cloud around them."

VOMIT!

Proposition 2

I hope all of you are planning to vote this election day and when you do I hope you'll be voting yes on prop 2. You can check out the website here. It's basically to help prevent the cruel treatment of farm animals and improve the health and safety of our food. Even if you aren't big on the whole animal cruelty thing, everyone should be about improving the conditions our food is raised in so that it prevents the spread of diseased animals that can ultimately make humans sick.

Take some time and check the site out. Be forewarned some of the pictures are kind of hard to stomach.

The perfect little house.

Buying a home has been on my mind a ton lately. I think I am at that stage in my life where I want to start making a place for myself and since I don’t see myself getting married any time soon, I want to start moving towards that on my own. It’s been on my mind a ton lately; where I want to live, the kind of house I want, the homey feeling I want it to have, etc. I think I have it all figured out in my head, and then when I meet Mr. Right he’ll just fit right into my perfect little house and life!

I’ve decided that I want a little old house. Not really a fixer upper because I just don’t have the time but something kind of like a Craftsman bungalow. Kind of like Jacob and Theresa’s house for those of you that know them.

I want it to have a cute little 1950’s style kitchen complete with old school appliances, (or the ones that look old school but are new and don’t have the old school appliance problems.) I want it to have a cool oven with two doors and an old refrigerator. I want it to feel like my grandma’s kitchen with wooden cabinets and pretty white curtains. I want there to be a rug in front of the sink that my dogs lie on while they watch me cook dinner and hope for little pieces of food to fall off the counter.

Then the rest of the house is much less specific, for some reason my kitchen is huge to me. That's probably because of the amount of time I spent in my grandma’s growing up. I want a kitchen table for everyday meals and a dining room table for special occasions. Oh…and no TV in the kitchen!

I want a little backyard and a porch…a porch would be awesome. I could sit out there with my dogs lying inside the house just on the other side of the screen door and crochet on a lovely autumn or spring day. That would be amazing. Even better would be if I had a view of the mountains, or a lake, (like this picture I took on my last camping trip.) That would totally be icing on the cake.

Then someday when I’m married I can get up early on Sunday mornings and turn on some Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, or some other old country music crooner, throw on an apron and make breakfast for me and my husband in my perfect little house.

Yep…that’s what I want.

"Mother tell your children not to walk my way."

Danzig came on the radio on my way to work today. Not gonna lie, kind of made my morning.

It's freaking hot!

Blah...

Tim Armstrong...marry me.

This past weekend was jam packed with so much that I’m a little overwhelmed just thinking about it but in retrospect, it was an awesome weekend. It went a little something like this.

Friday night…please refer to the post below with the ice packs…

Saturday was my sister’s baby shower. Since I planned her shower I still had a ton to do when Saturday morning rolled around. I was up at 7 and packed up the car and headed over to Albertson’s to get balloons and then to pick up my brother at his dad’s house then over to my mom’s. Grabbed my mom and headed over to Sam’s Club to pick up food and cupcakes and headed back home. We stopped to grab Jack in the Box and made it home by 9:45. Then there was all that get ready party stuff to do, I got changed just in time for the first guests to arrive. It was a great day full of games, presents, food, presents, family and friends, presents oh and did I mention, presents? Liana really got a ton of stuff and it was so nice to see everyone. I think my niece is going to be the best dressed baby on the block.

Then that night some of us headed over to Red Robin to celebrate my mom and my Aunt Karen’s birthday. I was so tired by then but it was nice to see them laughing together. I’m sure when I’m 50 and Liana’s 39 we’ll be the same way! Haha. Crazy age difference.

I got home at 9:30 and was in bed by like 10 I was so tired. Sunday I got up bright and early to head over to Anaheim to have breakfast with my friend Ricky who was here from Seattle for Gay Days at Disneyland. We had an awesome breakfast at IHOP and we laughed a ton and talked about how we might lose our jobs soon and about any and everything you could think of. He is an amazing person and I always love to see him. It’s so strange to think that in his life he has to make these decisions that are similar to decisions I make everyday but I never really think twice about whereas he has to think extra about how these same decisions would affect him because he's a gay man. A good example; I never think twice about where I wanna move to I just look at places I think would be cool but Ricky and I were talking this same topic I realized that Ricky has to think about how friendly the community he wants to move to will be. Tolerance is something that’s really taken for granted in California. I think we forget that other places aren’t as diverse and welcoming as we are. Oh and he came over to see me sporting his Gay Days t-shirt, which was awesome. I’m so glad I got to see him, it was a great morning.

Then on to some work at home, no fun at all, but that’s ok because I spent my night in anticipation of probably one of the best shows I have ever been to, MxPx and Rancid at the Henry Fonda. I went to the show with amazing people, got to sit in the balcony like the true old person that I am, played some MASH with Natalie, IM’ed a ton with Corre because he was four people away from me and then best of all, enjoyed what really was just an awesome show by MxPx and Rancid. Both bands played a ton of old stuff and it totally took me back to high school and just feeling like a kid again. I can’t even really say how great they were, but I’m afraid to see them play again because if they aren’t that good then it would just be disappointing. Oh...and Tim Armstrong...so dreamy. haha.

So yeah…basically, it was an awesome weekend.

Coincidence...I think not.

"Thirteen years to the day after O.J. Simpson was acquitted in the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, he was found guilty of kidnapping and armed robbery in a Las Vegas courtroom."

I'm so clumsy.

I fell in the parking lot at work yesterday. I know, I know...this kind of thing only happens to me. I have a messed up left knee and messed up right foot which means that I can't really walk. So here's what my current view looks like. Don't you wish this were you?

Please support my friend Jason and TOMS.

My friend Jason will be taking a trip to Argentina to hand out shoes to kids for TOMS shoes. For those of you who don't know about TOMS you can check them out online, but basically for every pair of shoes you buy they give a pair to a child who doesn't have shoes. It's a really cool organization.

But...back to Jason...he's got a website up where you can make a donation to Jason to help raise money for his trip to Argentina. I know that there are a lot of you who are looking for a worthy cause to give to and this is definitely a great one.
